How Kasapreko's GSE listing added $174 million to Adjei family wealth

The family behind Kasapreko Plc has seen the value of its stake in the beverage company rise by about $174 million in just three months following the company’s listing on the Ghana Stock Exchange.
According to a report by Billionaires Africa, the Adjei family controls about 85.88% of Kasapreko, representing approximately 3.55 billion shares. At a share price of GH¢1.77 on September 23, 2026, the stake was valued at about GH¢6.28 billion, equivalent to roughly $540 million.
This represents a significant increase from June, when the same stake was worth about $366 million, based on Kasapreko’s initial public offering price of GH¢1.20 per share.

The increase means the company’s stock market performance has added approximately $174 million to the family’s paper wealth since the shares were offered to investors.
The family does not hold the shares directly. The controlling stake is held through Pinnacle Holding Company Limited.
Pinnacle is equally owned by Abigail Adjei, Emelia Adjei, Eunice Adjei, Isaac Adjei and Richard Adjei. Based on the current value of the holding, each person’s indirect interest is worth about GH¢1.26 billion, or roughly $108 million.
Kasapreko founder Dr Kwabena Adjei does not personally appear as a shareholder in the ownership structure.
The development follows Kasapreko’s move to the Ghana Stock Exchange earlier this year.
The beverage manufacturer offered about 583.3 million new shares to investors at GH¢1.20 each, raising GH¢700 million.
Investor interest was strong. The offer attracted subscriptions worth about GH¢1.73 billion from 18,781 investors, making it 146% oversubscribed.
Kasapreko began trading under the ticker KASA on June 15. Its shares quickly climbed from the GH¢1.20 offer price, reaching GH¢1.32 on the first trading day before rising to a high of GH¢2.30 on June 23.
The share price later declined from that peak and stood at GH¢1.77 on September 23. Despite the decline, the stock remained about 47.5% above its IPO price.
At that price, Kasapreko as a whole was valued at approximately GH¢7.31 billion, or about $629 million.
The rise marks another major milestone for a company that started on a much smaller scale nearly four decades ago.
Dr Kwabena Adjei founded Kasapreko in a garage in Nungua in 1987 with only five employees. The company later built its name around Alomo Bitters, which became one of Ghana’s best-known alcoholic beverage brands.

Kasapreko has since expanded its product portfolio to include brands such as Storm Energy Drink and Awake Purified Drinking Water. It now employs more than 2,300 people and exports its products to several African countries, as well as markets in Europe and North America.
The company has also recorded strong financial growth. Revenue increased from GH¢660 million in 2020 to GH¢3.5 billion in 2025, while net profit reached GH¢341.8 million in 2025.
Kasapreko plans to use about 96% of the money raised from its public offer to develop a new production plant at Adeiso in the Eastern Region. The facility will focus on bottled water and carbonated soft drinks.
