'If you die without experiencing orgasm, you have lived a wasted life' - Pastor

Pastor Owolabi, wife of Pastor Juwon Owolabi of Lightlife Church International in Nigeria, has urged married women to take a more active interest in their sexual relationships, arguing that intimacy should be understood as an important part of companionship between spouses.
Speaking at a “Marriage That Works” programme, she challenged the perception that sex in marriage should primarily be viewed through the lens of childbirth, insisting that couples should also pay attention to pleasure, understanding and mutual fulfilment.
She particularly encouraged women to become more knowledgeable about their bodies and to communicate their needs more openly with their husbands.
“If you die without experiencing orgasm, you’ve lived a wasted life,” she said, urging women not to feel ashamed about seeking sexual fulfilment within marriage.
According to Pastor Owolabi, intimacy is an aspect of marriage that couples should deliberately learn about instead of treating it as a subject that is too sensitive or embarrassing to discuss.
She disclosed that she did not enter marriage with extensive knowledge about sex, explaining that she was a virgin when she got married and initially understood intimacy largely from a biological perspective.

Her experience, she said, eventually made her realise that there was much more to learn about sexual intimacy and that couples needed to approach it with the same willingness to gain knowledge in other areas of life.
“I knew that okay, I need to understand because this is a body of knowledge, this is like a university,” she said.
She therefore advised married women to make efforts to educate themselves about intimacy while creating an environment where they can have honest conversations with their spouses about their needs and expectations.
Pastor Owolabi further maintained that married couples should be open to exploring different forms of intimacy, provided these remain within the boundaries of marriage.
“God is not against other styles in marriage,” she said.
Her comments were made as part of a wider conversation about the factors that contribute to healthy and lasting marriages, with the discussion touching on the emotional, spiritual and physical dimensions of relationships.
Pastor Juwon Owolabi, who also took part in the programme, stressed that intimacy should not necessarily disappear as couples advance in age.
He cited the biblical account of Abraham and Keturah as an example to support his argument that growing older should not automatically bring an end to intimacy between married couples.
“If you take care of yourself, the older you become, the better it should be,” he said.
