GSA outlines inspection requirements for used vehicles entering Ghana

The Ghana Standards Authority (GSA) has reminded vehicle importers and other stakeholders that all used motor vehicles destined for Ghana must undergo pre-shipment verification of conformity (PVoC) before they are shipped. In a post on its official Facebook page, the GSA said the inspections must be conducted by a GSA-approved ISO/IEC 17020-accredited inspection agent under the FlexiPass Programme. The Authority said the inspections are conducted against the GS 4510 standard to ensure that vehicles meet the applicable requirements before being shipped to Ghana. Ghana's new vehicle import standards now in force According to the GSA, the inspection process allows non-conforming vehicles to be identified before shipment, while inspection results and certificates issued by approved agents are recognised by the Authority. The GSA also said mobile inspection services are available where required. It stressed that only vehicles that meet the applicable requirements may be shipped to Ghana. The Authority urged vehicle importers, dealers, distributors, shipping and clearing agents and other stakeholders to familiarise themselves with the requirements and verify compliance before shipping vehicles. The GSA said doing so would help importers avoid unnecessary costs and delays. MA Inside Ghana’s Abandoned Engineering Powerhouse: What Went Wrong? Source: www.ghanaweb.com
