'Kurt Okraku is not the reason our football is here' – Saddick Adams

Revered sports journalist Saddick Adams has stated that the Ghana Football Association (GFA) President, Kurt Okraku, cannot be entirely blamed for the dwindling fortunes of football in the country.
He explained that before Kurt Okraku assumed office, there were already challenges during the Kwesi Nyantakyi era, which led to the release of the Number 12 exposé spearheaded by investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas.
He further noted that he supported Kurt Okraku’s bid to become GFA President because of the menace facing football at the time and, therefore, believes he cannot be blamed entirely for the current woes of Ghana football.

“The Anas exposé came, and we all supported it during Nyantakyi’s time because we wanted football to be clean. I even supported Kurt’s bid to become the president. Kurt Okraku is not the reason our football is here. I am speaking the truth to God. He is not solely responsible,” he said in Twi while speaking on Angel FM.
However, Adams criticised Kurt Okraku, saying he has not performed well since assuming office, particularly in terms of introducing reforms to change the fortunes of the game.
He bemoaned the role of greed in the challenges hindering the progress of football administration and called for it to be tackled diligently.
“But for seven years, I would be a liar to say I had seen an improvement. Anyone who can't change Ghana football within four years is not competent enough. If you’re not greedy, dishonest, and self-centered, you can't fix it. You can't be rich while fixing it; it will come years later,” he added.
This comes after the Black Stars’ defeats in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, triggering calls for the GFA and the Black Stars to be dissolved.
