NPP will lose Karaga seat if Amin Adam doesn’t contest - John Boadu warns

NPP National Chairman, John Boadu, has said the party could lose the Karaga parliamentary seat if former Finance Minister Mohammed Amin Adam does not contest again in 2028.
He believes the NPP should persuade Amin Adam to contest rather than risk losing a seat where he has a proven record of winning.
“NPP will lose the parliamentary seat in Karaga if Mohammed Amin Adam doesn’t contest; we need to beg him to contest again,” Boadu said in an interview on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem.
According to him, the party should be willing to take strategic decisions when dealing with candidates who have demonstrated their ability to win their constituencies.
“So such a person, we don’t need research; we even have to beg him to contest again,” he said.
Boadu also argued that holding a primary in such circumstances could unnecessarily drain the party’s resources ahead of the 2028 general elections.
“We don’t even have to hold primaries because at the end of the day, resources that can be used to prosecute the general elections will be spent on the primaries, and he will have no money for the main election,” he said.
He said this hours after NPP flagbearer Dr Mahamudu Bawumia announced that the party has started identifying potential parliamentary candidates ahead of the 2028 elections.
Bawumia said the exercise is focused on finding candidates with the capacity to win parliamentary seats, rather than relying solely on the outcome of internal primaries.
