‘You made Ghanaian actors look inferior to Nigerian stars’ - Parrot Mouth blasts LilWin

Nigerian-Ghanaian-based comedian Parrot Mouth has argued that LilWin’s actions and comments following the arrival of several Nigerian actors in Ghana have created the impression that Ghanaian actors are inferior to their Nigerian counterparts. His remarks come amid growing criticism of veteran Nollywood actor Kanayo O. Kanayo, who recently sparked debate after questioning why some Ghanaian actors expect payment comparable to that of established Nigerian actors. But while some Ghanaians accused Kanayo of undermining the value and talent of local actors, Parrot Mouth rejected the criticism directed at Kanayo. “And for those Ghanaians ‘dragging’ Kanayo that he had said rubbish, bow your heads in shame. You don’t have any right to talk to Kanayo,” he said. Instead, Parrot Mouth shifted the focus of the criticism to LilWin, accusing him of portraying Ghanaian actors as inferior in the presence of the Nigerian stars, a situation he believes may have contributed to some of the remarks made by Kanayo O. Kanayo. “LilWin, who brought Kanayo, is the problem of Ghana. Everything Kanayo said, is it true? Yes. Why is it true? Because LilWin made Ghanaians look cheap. LilWin made Ghanaian actors and actresses look useless in front of Kanayo O. Kanayo. Let’s call a spade a spade,” he said. 'Apart from juju, what better role can you play?' – Ghanaian director blasts Kanayo He argued that by publicly comparing Ghanaian actors with the Nigerian stars and discussing the amount of money spent to bring them to Ghana, LilWin inadvertently diminished the image of the Ghanaian industry. “He made Ghanaian actors look worthless in front of the Nigerian stars. LilWin brought the Nigerian stars to come and shoot a movie. Now you have brought the people, at the airport, LilWin always likes unnecessary attention. “You said, ‘When you call your people to come and act for you, they are doing too knowing, and the actors don’t even know acting properly, that they are not celebrities up to these people that you brought from Nigeria, and you mention the money you spent to bring these people nobody can afford them’” Parrot Mouth argued. The comedian questioned what LilWin intended to communicate by making such statements, arguing that they gave Nigerian actors the impression that Ghana lacked actors who could match their standards. “What are you trying to say? That Ghanaians do not have anything? Then you further prove that by making another statement that the money some of your people want to take is the same amount as Kanayo, Mama G and the others. Some statements, you are washing your dirty linens outside. I stand with anything Kanayo talked about because only you have disgraced your people,” he stated. Parrot Mouth also rejected claims that the Ghanaian movie industry is dying due to changing audience preferences, arguing instead that certain actions by industry players particularly LilWin are contributing to its decline. “Later, they will say Ghana movie is dead, the industry is not dead. It’s people like you collapsing the industry, and that is the truth. “People watch Nigerian movies because of the suspense, but yours, there is no suspense. Every day, there are bloggers showing what is being done,” he added. @mighty.pebble.2
