Kojo Bamba ‘missing’ as NPP’s new leadership meets for first time, visits Bawumia

The newly elected First Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kojo Fosu Boadu, popularly known as Kojo “Bamba,” was absent when the party’s newly elected national leadership held its first meeting. Kojo Bamba’s election as First Vice Chairman has attracted considerable attention after he defeated 12 other candidates in the contest. They included Dr Mustapha Abdul-Hameed, Nana Akomea, Samuel Pyne, George Kwabena Abankwah Yeboah, Richard Ahiagba, Alhaji Masawudu Osman, Richard Oti Aboagye, Abena Pokua Boaitey Amoah, Yaa Amponsah Frimpong, Henry Nana Boakye, Horma Miez and Bright Esselfie Kumi. According to the party, however, Kojo Bamba was unable to attend the meeting because he had travelled. While introducing the newly elected leadership to party supporters, the re-elected General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, explained that Kojo Bamba was expected to be present but could not attend because of his travel. Later in the day on October 6, 2026, the newly elected leadership met with the party’s flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia. Kojo Bamba was also absent from that meeting. Banker in court for allegedly stealing GH¢1 million Kojo Fosu Boadu, popularly known as Kojo Bamba, was declared the winner of the 1st Vice Chairman position after securing 3,116 votes during the party's National Delegate Conference in Kumasi at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on October 3, 2026. He was followed by immediate past National Organiser Henry Nana Boakye, who obtained 3,061 votes, while former NPP Communications Director and former Managing Director of STC Nana Akomea placed third with 2,987 votes. Under the arrangement in which the top three candidates were selected for the vice-chairmanship positions, the remaining 10 contestants were eliminated.
