Former 3rd Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Alhaji Masawudu Osman, popularly known as Chairman Buga Buga, says he had anticipated losing the party’s national executive election because of the number of people he considered his political enemies.
According to him, prior to the election, he told his two wives that they should be prepared for a possible defeat because his opponents were praying for him to lose.
He said he specifically encouraged his second wife, Queen Mina, to remain strong because of his conviction that he was a man of substance.
“I told all my wives that we could lose the election. I told my second wife, Queen Mina, that we could lose because we have so many enemies, and the enemies are praying hard for us to lose the election.
“But Queen Mina, be strong because the man you have married is a man of substance, and I am a pure Dagomba man,” he said in an interview on Neat FM on October 5, 2026.
Chairman Buga Buga further disclosed that he remained calm after receiving a message from Queen Mina following his defeat.
He said the message helped to comfort him and assured that there was no tension between him and his two wives following the election.
“After the election, Queen Mina sent me a message, and that calmed me down. So, myself, my first wife and my second wife have no problem.”
Alhaji Masawudu Osman polled 890 votes in the contest, which was not enough to secure one of the three vice-chairmanship positions.
Meanwhile, Kojo Fosu Boadu, popularly known as Kojo Bamba, emerged as the 1st Vice Chairman after defeating 12 other candidates in the keenly contested election.
The other contestants were Dr Mustapha Abdul-Hameed, Nana Akomea, Samuel Pyne, George Kwabena Abankwah Yeboah, Richard Ahiagba, Alhaji Masawudu Osman, Richard Oti Aboagye, Abena Pokua Boaitey Amoah, Yaa Amponsah Frimpong, Henry Nana Boakye, Horma Miez and Bright Esselfie Kumi.
