‘I used my mother, sister’s unborn child for money rituals’ - Man confesses

A young man has recounted how his decision to seek money rituals to improve his business allegedly led to the death of his mother and his sister’s unborn child.
According to him in a video sighted by GhanaWeb, on October 7, 2026, he travelled abroad and later returned to Ghana to visit his mother in the village, unaware that the spiritual rituals he had undertaken would have deadly consequences.

He said he spent time with his mother, gave her gifts, cooked for her, and ate with her before leaving but soon after the visit she suddenly fell sick.
“I travelled to see my mother in the village, and I gifted her things I brought with me from my travels abroad. I spent some time with her, cooked, and ate. After some time, my mother started getting sick. So, I left Accra to see her in the village, but she died a few days later at the age of 47 years,” he recounted.
He disclosed that after her death, he and his senior brother began making arrangements to transport her body to the mortuary.
He indicated that it was during the preparations that he received a warning from the spirit connected to the rituals he had undertaken not to contribute any money towards his mother’s burial.
“While at it, the spirit [from which I did the rituals] came to me and warned me not to give out any money for the burial. At that moment, I realised that my mother’s death was because of the ritual. I never had any issues with my mother when she was alive,” he said.
He said his brother paid for a vehicle to transport the body, but they later needed GH₵10 to settle the driver.
Despite the warning, he decided to pay the amount because he had several bundles of GH₵10 notes with him.
“When we finally got the vehicle, my brother paid the charges, but we needed change of GH₵10 for the driver. At the moment, I had several bundles of GH₵10 with me, but the spirit had warned me not to help with the burial arrangements. I spoke back to the spirit and told it that I would pay the driver's balance. I was the only person who could see it but the spirit turned its back to me. So, I decided to go against its order and pay the change of GH₵10. The moment I tried pulling the single note, the entire bundle fell to the ground. Those present exchanged looks wondering why I was adamant all the time my brother was moving from shop to shop seeking the GH₵10,” he explained.
He added that another rule of the rituals was that he should not leave his home from Friday to Sunday, which prevented him from attending his mother’s funeral.
He later went to the funeral on Saturday to make a payment, despite the restriction.
“Part of the rules for the rituals was that I don’t go out from Friday to Sunday, so, I couldn’t attend my mother’s burial. But I later went on Saturday to make some payment. These strange behaviours I exhibited at the time exposed my deeds to my family. The family members knew that I had gone for rituals, but I later went to beg for their forgiveness,” he said.

The young man said his main reason for seeking the rituals was to improve his business, but he did not expect that his actions would result in the death of his mother and many family members.
“I went in for the rituals to help my business, but I didn’t know it would take my mother’s life. Aside from my mother, the spirit also took the life of my sister’s unborn child,” he added.
