'Any local coach will coach Black Stars with all their hearts' - Karim Zito

Former Ghana U-20 coach Karim Zito has urged the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to have confidence in local coaches when selecting the next head coach of the Black Stars.
Zito believes appointing a Ghanaian coach would not only give local coaches an opportunity to prove themselves but could also reduce the financial burden associated with hiring foreign coaches.
Speaking to 3Sports, Zito cited Senegal as an example of a country that has invested confidence in its own coaches.
“Build us. Senegal did it. Their club did it. Build it, have confidence in your own. Even if it will lessen your financial issues,” he stated.
He argued that local coaches would approach the Black Stars job with commitment and focus more on achieving success than financial rewards.
“Any local coach will coach the Black Stars with all their hearts to achieve. We don't look at money; we look at achievement. I can't charge Black Stars the way a white coach will,” he added.
Zito added that developing and trusting Ghanaian coaches could help the GFA reduce the financial pressure involved in appointing foreign coaches.
“Build us. It will lessen your financial burden. So when they take that into consideration, it's good,” he added.
