Watch as Danish youngster enjoys Hearts of Oak atmosphere in Ghana Premier League

A young football fan from Denmark has expressed excitement about experiencing the vibrant atmosphere of the Ghana Premier League after attending a Hearts of Oak match in Accra.

The youngster, who was brought to the game by his mother, said the atmosphere at Ghanaian football matches was different from what he was accustomed to in Denmark, particularly the use of musical instruments by supporters to cheer on their teams.

He described the experience as enjoyable, noting that the instruments and lively fan engagement created a unique atmosphere at the stadium.

“It’s very nice. It’s fun because in Denmark we don’t have all those instruments and things. It gives a cool vibe,” he said.

Although he is not a regular supporter of Hearts of Oak, the young fan wore the club’s jersey for the occasion, partly because of his admiration for goalkeeper Benjamin Asare, who has represented Ghana at the FIFA World Cup.

He also acknowledged Hearts of Oak’s status as one of the biggest football clubs in Accra, explaining that wearing the club’s jersey was part of his experience of watching a local football match.

His reaction highlights the appeal of Ghanaian football beyond the country's borders, with the vibrant atmosphere created by supporters offering a different experience for visitors accustomed to other football cultures.

Unlike the more subdued atmosphere he described in Denmark, the use of drums, horns and other musical instruments by Ghanaian supporters adds colour and excitement to matches, making the experience about more than just the action on the pitch.

The youngster's experience also reflects how attending a local football match can introduce visitors to Ghana's football culture, fan traditions and the passion that surrounds clubs such as Hearts of Oak.
