Chairman-elect pledges unity, accountability Speaking in an interview after his victory, Totroku expressed gratitude to God and the delegates, describing his election as a victory for the NDC rather than a personal achievement said the outcome reflected the delegates' confidence in his campaign message and their desire for leadership capable of mobilising the grassroots, particularly the youth, ahead of the 2028 general election. According to the District YEA Director, the results demonstrated that delegates were increasingly making decisions based on candidates' messages and leadership qualities rather than financial inducements. “Gone were the days when you could buy delegates with money and goodies. Today, the transportation we gave out was just nothing to write home about,” he said. He added that he was humbled by the confidence reposed in him and pledged to serve the party with humility, transparency and accountability. Totroku, who said he had previously served as the constituency's youth organiser, expressed confidence in his ability to mobilise young people across political divides to strengthen the NDC's electoral prospects. He argued that his relationships with young people in the constituency would help the party expand its support base and improve its performance in the next general election. The chairman-elect also promised to introduce changes in the constituency's party administration, saying the grassroots would benefit from the leadership they had chosen. “This is a new dawn. The constituency is going to be reformed, and I tell you, you will see a change in Lower Manya,” he said. He further emphasised the need for reconciliation following the internal elections, noting that disagreements among aspirants and their supporters should give way to unity once the contest had ended. Totroku said he intended to lead an inclusive administration that would not discriminate against members based on their affiliations during the internal elections. “I am the unifier type,” he said, adding that he believed his ability to bring people together had contributed to his victory. He called for collective commitment among party members to consolidate the NDC's position in Lower Manya Krobo and prepare for the 2028 general election.Source: www.ghanaweb.com
