Media personality and entertainment enthusiast Tilly Akua Nipaa has weighed in on the ongoing debate surrounding Sarkodie’s viral amputee prank video, questioning why an amputee’s participation in comedy should automatically be viewed through a lens of pity.
Her comments come after Stonebwoy’s PR, Vida Adutwumwaa, challenged Sarkodie during an interview with DJ Slim to repost the controversial video if he truly stood by it.
Reacting in a post on X, Tilly described the conversation as “hypocritical,” arguing that the backlash appeared to suggest amputees could not be part of content meant to entertain.

“The whole premise of this conversation is a bit hypocritical to me! So because an amputee went to play the prank, it can’t be considered funny?” she wrote.
She pointed out that there are several amputee comedians and content creators who have amassed millions of views because audiences appreciate their humour rather than defining them solely by their disability.
According to Tilly, refusing to see amputees as capable of making people laugh reduces their identity to pity instead of recognising them as people with the same ability to entertain as anyone else.
She further questioned why someone leading a campaign in support of amputees would hold such a view, arguing that it sends a contradictory message about inclusion.
“If you can’t appreciate that they are equally able to make people laugh like any other person, then what’s really the agenda here!… Unless once again it’s simply about riding on Sarkodie’s name to amplify the Stonebwoy amputee campaign, then I see no reason why this should be back. Or deep down you don’t believe amputees can evoke any other feeling but pity? Look who is looking down on them now,” she added.
Sarkodie abr3 oh ei! The whole premise of this conversation is a bit hypocritical to me! So because an amputee went to play the prank, it can’t be considered funny? Are you not rather looking at their entire existence through one narrow “pity” lens? Because I’ve seen amputee comic content creators who get millions of views because they are more than their legs. So why can people not simply enjoy and share such videos simply because you believe they are the most pitiful in the world and everything about them should be seen as such. And for someone leading such a beautiful campaign for amputees, this take is a bit problematic for me because, once again if you can’t appreciate that they are equally able to make people laugh like any other person, then what’s really the agenda here! Unless, once again, it’s simply about riding on Sarkodie’s name to amplify the Stonebwoy amputee campaign, then I see no reason why this should be back. Or deep down you don’t believe amputees can evoke any other feeling but pity? Look who is looking down on them now!
