The late South African icon, Nelson Mandela, reportedly made a prophetic statement about the outcome of Ghana's match against Uruguay in the 2010 World Cup hosted by South Africa.

Lee Addy, a former defender for the Black Stars, disclosed that the team had an audience with Mandela before the quarter-final clash with Uruguay.

During this meeting, Mandela cautioned that the team would face unfair treatment from the referee, Addy told sports journalist Ernest Brew Smith.

This prediction came to pass in a memorable quarter-final, where Asamoah Gyan missed a pivotal penalty after Luis Suarez's infamous handball, leading to a penalty shootout that Ghana lost 4-2.

Additionally, Addy shared insights into a conversation with Ghana's late president, Professor John Evans Atta Mills, before their match against the United States of America.

Professor Mills visited the team to boost their morale, highlighting the historical significance of the match and the importance of securing a win, reinforcing Ghana's historical advantage over the US team.

"Professor Mills came to our locker room to inspire us. He urged us to aim for victory, reminding us of Ghana's historical upper hand against the US. He was confident that history was on our side and encouraged us to pursue a win. His support for our quest was unwavering," Addy recalled.
