Vice-President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has revealed that the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has introduced a digitised system that enables subscription renewals through the mobile phone, which, he said, has recorded thousands of registrations in its few weeks of operation.
He explained that citizens do not have to queue for days at the offices of the NHIA to renew their National Health Insurance System (NHIS) cards as it can be done seamlessly via the mobile phone.
According to him, “Renewal of NHIS via mobile phones has seen a phenomenal innovation with an average of 70,000 renewals every week”.
The vice-president said clients only have to dial *929# to access the service and pay for their renewals using mobile money.
