The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has stated that the tragic loss of the late former deputy Finance Minister, John Kumah, has left an indelible mark in the hearts of many.

In a heartfelt tribute, Dr Bawumia honoured Kumah's memory and celebrated his contributions to the nation.

"The awful news of a tragic loss to the party, government, and parliament reached me," Dr Bawumia began while reading a tribute at the funeral grounds at Onwe, a suburb of Ejisu.

He added, "A vital life had ended and I was saddened by the news of his demise. It was even more devastating to me because I was with him on the 5th of March when he paid me a visit at home. It was his routine. It was, therefore, a great loss with a silence as deep as death and the boulders held their breath."

Standing in solidarity with mourners across the nation, Dr Bawumia expressed his deep sorrow stating that although it was a difficult time, God knows best.

"I stand here today with mourners across the nation to offer my heartfelt tribute to the late John Ampotia Kumah, former legislator for the Ejisu Constituency and former deputy Minister of Finance. It is hard, but we trust in God. He does all things well."

Reflecting on Kumah's legacy, he said although the grief is beyond consolation, he was glad their paths crossed. The vice president also praised the deceased for “selflessness, intellectual brilliance."

“I am glad that our paths crossed. The news of John Kumah’s passing was devastating, plunging the entire nation into shock at the unexpected loss of such a passionate politician. He was renowned for his selflessness, intellectual brilliance, and warm personality. A man blessed with a good heart. His departure has left a void and this grief is beyond consolation.

“Nature, in its inexplicable course, has dealt a cruel blow, taking Kumah away in his prime. Indeed, we have lost a dedicated public servant. I have lost a friend and a strong supporter," the vice president lamented.

He added, "We appeal and pray to the good Lord to keep John in his bosom."
