Former President and Founder of the National Democratic Congress Flight Lieutenant Jerry John Rawlings has revealed that reports of him having offshore accounts as well as being ranked among the richest people in Ghana are false.

Speaking at the 39th Celebration of the June 4th uprising held at the Social Welfare Park at Madina in Accra, Mr. Rawlings rebuked persons behind such publications noting that it was a way people justified their means of undertaking corrupt activities.

"When I came out of office together with my wife, we never even had a foreign account to say we have even $10 inside it. Today when they are tabling all the billionaires and the millions that we have, they put Rawlings at number 9 I think or second to last, and they've given me 50million." He stated

The former President continued by mocking the founder of defunct United Renaissance Party, Eric Charles Kofi Wayo that the latter was capable of bribing the news outlet to put his name in the last because he was 'so broke'.

"Meanwhile the last man behind me is Kofi Wayo... As for Kofi Wayo I know he is so broke that I believe he must have paid the newspaper; put me there and put 30 million against my name."

He averred that the corrupt individuals within the party used the ranking tactic as a way to deflect attention from them in order to siphon from the state's purse.

"I have answered that kind of thing on three occasions, and I will answer it again. They play this game as a way of whitewashing themselves; the genuine and the thieves amongst them. So if Rawlings van have 50million there's nothing wrong with it." He stressed.

“If I had it, I would've worked honestly for it, but I don't" There have been widespread news ranking some ten richest men in the country
