Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, the running mate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has emphasized the importance of public education regarding the roles of government officials.

She highlighted that a lack of comprehensive knowledge about the duties of state officials leads to unrealistic expectations from citizens.

Prof. Naana Jane emphasized the misconception about MPs' roles, noting that many people expect them to undertake developmental projects.

During a media engagement at the Limited Voters Registration sites, she advocated for substantial education on elections to enable informed voting decisions.

"I also feel that there's something we are missing, and that is consistent public education or civic education. Who is there to tell that person that this is the process? There are so many things we need to understand. What is the role of the MP? Is the MP's role to build a road? Why do we vote?

"All these things must come into the discourse so that we, as participants, will understand our roles and understand them very well. I think that even though somebody has been arrested for holding two papers, the person should have known. I'm not making an excuse. What I'm saying is that we should raise the quality of public education, so we all understand," she stated in a video released by GhOne TV on their X page.

The registration exercise is ongoing at 258 district offices of the commission, with an additional 785 centres and 25 public universities also serving as registration venues.
