Head coach of Nea Salamina Ransford Kudjoe has expressed his shock at his side’s controversial elimination from the MTN FA Cup quarter finals 2-1 loss to Asante Kotoko on Wednesday.
The high-flying Division One Zone 1 side held their own against the Porcupine Warriors at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium but were undone by referee Nuhu Liman’s contentious decision to award their opponent a late penalty, which was put away by captain Amos Frimpong.
Speaking after the game, Salamina coach Ranford Kudjoe vented his frustration at the referee’s call.
“I was happy with my team’s performance but the penalty call is something that I cannot understand and I have decided not to talk about it,” coach Kudjoe said.
“I leave that to you to judge but I was glad with the way my boys played.”
Saddick Adams gave Kotoko a 12th minute lead before Obeng Junior pulled parity in the 35th minute.
Kotoko by virtue of the win have joined already qualified Hearts of Oak, Medeama and Wa All Stars.
