This year's celebration of Mother's Day has seen some esteemed Ghanaian women sharing messages in commemoration of the day.

Among those who shared messages was the First Lady, Rebecca Akufo-Addo, who emphasized the unique role women play in maintaining households and caring for children.

"Celebrating mothers. Mother is the heartbeat in the home and without her, there seems to be no heartthrob," she posted on her X page.

Additionally, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) running mate, Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, urged the public to support women and honor their contributions on this day.

"I hold dear the stories my students shared about their mothers. As a mother myself, I'm reminded of the profound impact mothers have on the development of children and the nation at large.

"This Mother's Day, let's celebrate all mothers and mothering figures in our lives. It's crucial to recognize and address the challenges they face in this role and support them as we build the Ghana we want together. Every mother deserves recognition. Happy Mother's Day! ... and yes, that's me in the picture, some 40 years ago on X," she shared on her X page.

Also, former First Lady, Lordina Mahama, in her message, stated that without women, progress in the world would not have been possible, thus they deserve recognition.

"In your hands, we find our feet – perfectly encapsulates the strength, resilience, and love that you bring to our dear nation, the pillars of our communities, and the driving force behind the progress of our country. Our steadfast support, nurturing nature, and unwavering determination are why our nation continues to prosper. On this special day, let us honor and celebrate the remarkable women in our lives.

"From mothers to grandmothers, sisters to daughters, and all the women who make a difference every day. My husband, John, and I hold you in high esteem. We thank you for your constant love, guidance, and strength. May this day serve as a reminder of your extraordinary nature. Happy Mother's Day to all the incredible women of Ghana," she said, according to starrfm.com.gh.
