A youth group in the Northern region of Ghana, the Northern Youth for Peace (NYP) has said, it has identified with deep disappointment attempts by some group of people to continually destabilize the current sanity the Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH) is enjoying.

The group led by a popular youth and health activist. Yussif Danjimah, was reacting to a press statement by a group calling itself the Northern Young Patriots which claimed that there are some ‘notorious trinity' working at the hospital who lack the capacity to continue serving at the hospital.

Even though the group claimed the trinity has questions to answer as regards the recent development of expired and over priced drugs brought to the hospital, they singled out and mentioned the name of the Director of Pharmacy in their press statement.

Earlier the Kandahar group was at the rescue of the people as they prevented similar pandemonium prior to the arrival of Regional Minister. They resisted a planned demonstration by these same detractors in the area.

However, in a counter press release to put matters right and to cut the so-called Northern Young Patriots to size, the NYP believed that the Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH) is beginning to experience some level of sanity after some ‘ill-motivated and selfish’ individuals and their pay masters decided to plunge the hospital into chaos.

These same people, the group said, are beginning to stoke the unnecessary tension again in the hospital and the northern region at large with their ill-intent and false accusations against the Director of Pharmacy, Hamid Abdullai.

Early last month, the whole country was thrown into a state of fear when these group of people claimed the hospital was administering expired drugs on patients leading to serious agitation from anesthetics at the hospital.

This allegation was laid before the doorsteps of the Director of Pharmacy, Mr. Hamid Abdullai.

According to the Northern Youth for Peace group, “Notwithstanding all the machinations against him, Mr. Hamid Abdullai remained calm and availed himself for any investigation which was eventually carried out by the FDA…. The FDA findings are there for all to see.”

The group however mentioned that, the Pharmacy Department was exonerated by the FDA from all the claims after it was established that all the allegations against the Pharmacy Department and its director were false.

Meanwhile, in spite of all the outcomes, the Northern Young Patriots in their press statement still holds the view that the Director if Pharmacy of the hospital who served the health institution for over 16 years, must leave the hospital.

“Ladies and gentlemen, their call on the Pharmacy Director we all know is stem from the fact that, they fear Hamid Abdullai is the unbeatable candidate in the rave for the CEO position at the hospital. This group, which claims to be made of patriots were acting on behalf of their pay masters who want to field their own at such position so that they will be able to manipulate him,” NYP noted.

According them, these group of war mongers, character assassinators and enemies of progress have closed their eyes to the truth pretending not to know what the FDA findings are, and claiming to have substantial evidence against Hamid Abdullai.

“These so-called patriots of our region should do the people of Ghana the honour of bringing out the evidences they have against such an industrious Pharmacy director.”

They stated that, they are in no way trying to weaken anybody’s position but that they are working in the interest of peace and progress of the hospital.

“We don’t know why they are running from the fact that they made serious allegations against the pharmacy department and now making such a fuss about cost of drugs purchased.

…How can patriots rise up against the purchase of drugs into the hospital when the hospital is out of stock?”

The Kandahar group stressed its call on government to appoint an insider as CEO of the hospital and stated that, Mr. Hamid Abdullai is a man of integrity who will be a better choice for that position.

“Pharm. Hamid Abdullai remains the best candidate for the CEO position.”

“One interesting thing these people have raised in their press release is the fact that Abdul-Malik Kweku Baako has a report on the rot at the TTH which indicates that Hamid Abdullai is the worst among the bad. This is interesting. We will call on Kweku Baako to publish this findings so as to prove things right. We must say that, these people have nothing good than to muddy the hard won reputations of people.”

The group however was surprised that Kweku Baako rather prefers to give findings from his investigations to such irresponsible group than to make his findings public or hand it over to security agencies.

“This group has continuously misrepresents facts and sought to accuse the media for being bias. We are challenging them to produce all evidences they are claiming to have or forever dismantle their fold since they are of no relevance to the Northern part of the country.”

Meanwhile the group behind the press release (Northern Young Patriots) has received a lot of condemnation by some NPP communicators in some local radio station in Tamale.

They have been discredited and accuse of deliberately scheming a diabolical plot to undermine the integrity of pharm Hamid, a calculated attempt to smear him.

A vociferous NPP activist and a member of the regional communication team lambasted the group on suhupeli Fm, a Tamale based radio station.

He advices the group behind the press release not to destroy their future by allowing themselves to be used to diabolically destroy peoples’ hard won reputations.
