President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo has given assurances that bonded unemployed nurses will be given placements.

The president gave his word while addressing this year’s May Day parade held under the theme “Ghana at Sixty mobilizing for the future through the creation of decent jobs.”

His promise comes in the back of recent agitations by some bonded diploma graduate nurses and midwifes who pitched camps at the ministry of health for two days to demand postings. The president indicated, “I am aware of the recent sittings in the ministry of health by a group of nurses and midwifes who are yet to be placed. I am also aware of an uneasy calm within some occupation and professional groups among public sector workers.”

“I want to use this platform to assure you that my government is your government and we are listening to your concerns. We are determined that together we will find sustainable solutions because Ghana needs all its trained man power to be at work.”

President Akufo Addo said that his government remained committed to all his promises to teachers and nurses.

“The issue of teachers and nurses featured a lot in the recent elections. It was the vexed question of their allowances. We promised to restore them and we have.”

“Then there was the equally vexed question of a good number of them remaining unemployed after completing their training and we will work on this as well.”
