Convener for Sugar Dem Gh, Afia Pokua has said the motive for organizing her fellow women to cook for men on Val’s day is to achieve women empowerment and advancement through dialogue.
She believes that when women are empowered, they can do anything.
She said women have been fighting with men since immemorial and to no avail, yet women are still struggling.
“We have been fighting with men for equality and we have not gotten anywhere. We are still struggling. We have made progress but not as much progress that we want to make” she said.
Speaking at an event organised to pamper men on Val’s Day, Vim Lady as she is popularly known said the whole concept is to dialogue with men because fighting with the men is not solving the problem.
She said the only way women can get the men to buy into their idea of helping them in the house is through persuasion.
“Ours is not to fight with anybody. We just think that idea of pepper dem is fantastic because we all believe in women advancement but we don’t think we should box the men” she stressed.
She added that women should sugar, pamper and massage the men to be happy in order to help them (women) in the house.
On her part Maame Akua, who is also a member of the Sugar Dem Gh believes that cooking is a duty of the woman.
She said cooking is a skill for women because a woman who cooks well carry glory.
“If today somebody comes out to say cooking is like slavery and all that, I don’t get” she said.
She added that it is the duty of a woman to always exhibit her standard in the home.
Sugar Dem Gh is a group which started on social media especially on Facebook to stand for men and protect them from the narratives being paraded by rival group Pepper Dem Ministries where they believe cooking for husbands makes women slaves in the house.
Vim Lady and her group Sugar Dem Gh expressed readiness to cook, clean and even ‘lick’ their men, provided the men are ready to ‘Sugar’ them in return.
Sugar Dem Gh believes that women were not created to challenge men but simply to support them and they are ready to fight anyone who says otherwise.
