Desmond Nana Ntow Amirekyi, a former National Organizer of the Peoples National Convention (PNC), has expressed doubts about President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo's claim that power outages, popularly known as 'dumsor,' have ended.

During his May Day address, President Akufo-Addo declared that the era of power outages was over.

However, Nana Ntow challenged this statement, pointing out instances where power was unavailable in various locations during and after the address.

"Since the morning the president spoke, there were no lights in Taifa, Haatso, Akuapem, and even Nungua. So, I want to ask what proof the president has to claim that there are no more power outages. Because the proof is that at the time he was speaking, the lights were out," he said.

Speaking on a panel discussion on UTV’s 'Adekye Nsroma' on May 2, 2024, Nana Ntow suggested a lack of cohesion within the government, referencing the reported disconnect between Akufo-Addo and his vice president, Mahamudu Bawumia.

"It's no wonder the president and his vice president are taking separate paths, simply because they don't meet. They don't share ideas. Bawumia acknowledged the power outages recently, and his boss Akufo-Addo is also saying otherwise, claiming that the issue has been resolved," he added.
