Supreme Court judge Justice William Atuguba is now the Chief Justice following the absence of Justice Georgina Theodora Woode.
Justice Atuguba’s new role was known Tuesday,February 21 when the Speaker of Parliament, Prof Mike Oquaye introduced dignitaries in parliament ahead of the President’s State of the Nation Address.
Justice Georgina Theodora Woode is not expected to return from her leave which she has taken prior to her retirement.
JSC Atuguba, who chaired the panel that sat on Ghana’s 2012 election petition will therefore act in her stead as the Chief Justice until President Akufo-Addo appoints a new Chief Justice or better still regularize the appointment of Atuguba, who is currently in Acting capacity.
The introduction of Justice Atuguba by the Speaker was met with loud cheers from a section of the MPs.
