Reports in the media landscape suggesting that the Minority in Parliament went to beg former President Jerry John Rawlings to take over the party is false as we only paid a courtesy call on him, Okudzeto Ablakwa has said.

It was reported in the Monday edition of the Daily Guide Newspaper that, “The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has gone to the founder, former President Jerry John Rawlings, to plead with him to come back to the party and help it to regain power”.

The North Tongu legislator said the move was part of the NDC MPs in Parliament effort in putting themselves in issues of the party, getting necessary information on how to make the party bounce back to power.

According to him, the minority has met all important stakeholders such as former President John Dramani Mahama, Council of state, National Executive Committee, Kwesi Botchway Committee and it was the turn of the founder last Thursday.

He revealed this on Ghana Te Sen, Top FMs Morning Show in an interview with Yaa Titi Okrah Yangy.

Last Thursday, the minority leader, Haruna Iddrisu, led a delegation of NDC legislators with the inclusion of Hon Ablakwa to visit the former president at his residence in Accra, where he called for unity within the party towards the future.
