The Blueprint of the most likely locations to find the Oil had already been established by the Government's own initiatives. And it should not have been given to a sole-sourced outside investor without the proper procedures to ensure fairness and equity in a bidding process. Other Oil companies might have long found the Jubilee Oil deposits, if they had been given that exclusive privilege of accessing that Blueprint. And the reason many cite Tsakata as having done more to find the Oil is because it was during his tenure at the GNPC that much of that Blueprint was developed in detail.
So, it is not that people who criticize the E.O. Group and the Kufuor Administration on that deal with Kosmos are envious of the E.O. Group, or are just too stupid to appreciate the efforts of fellow Ghanaians to harness our resources for the good of the Nation.
It is, rather, the process via which the whole deal was concocted and implemented that smelled shitty. Nowhere in the USA and the other Western Nations would such a deal have been allowed, especially, when it involved fictitious signatures appended on crucial documents. Period!
I strongly believe, the paramount reason why the FBI abandoned further investigation into the case to let the deal stand was because of the politicization of the dispute.
The Kosmos company did hire a controversial, perceived anti-Pan-african lobbist, K. Riva Levinson, known to have worked for the Savimbis, Mobutus, Nguessos, of Africa's nightmarish imperialist assaults and Reagan's opposition to the fight against apartheid South Africa, to get the US Congress influence the case in favor of Kosmos. The fact that the Chinese had any eye on the deposits was always looming and was used as a cogent reason for the US to play an incisive role to win it for Kosmos and the E.O. Group.
That KRL intervention is why Ghana's new Energy Minister at the time, Joe Oteng Agyei and others in the Mahama Administration were refused visas to by the American Embassy in Ghana to proceed to the US for further interactions to resolve the case.
So, if all were proper with the deal no one would be concerned and still suspicious of Kufuor's role in the Jubilee contract.

One thing I see is that most of these thieves attack themselves to churches and mosques. While religion's aim is to protect the powerless, most of our religious men have become gods unto themselves, accepting bribes and offerings from these thieves who rob the masses.

Yes, the E.O. Group sold its shares to Tullow, the other partner of Kosmos from the UK. That is why the 2 E.O. partners earned their $350 Million booty they stashed away abroad, most likely in Cayman Islands where the company was registered.
My personal beef with the Group is not so much as to how they nailed down the deal as with how they apply their new wealth to help the Nation that did them that big favor.
It is unfair for anyone to think that the Group did Ghana a favor by 'discovering' our Oil but not themselves for earning a whooping $350 Million in a matter of a couple of years, if the Group's inception could even go that far back.
The whole story needs be told in a single long narrative for people to capture the full picture, and judge appropriately for themselves. For those who blindly think so long as people make money from any capitalist venture, it does not matter how they did it and others should not question the process, I would say that I wish all of us would have that easy access to our Natural Resources to get some foreign investor to finance it and share the profits with us for almost no work done by us. We all know what the Galamsey has done to our Nation, thus far. Don't we?
Yes, we need more transparency in any such transactions to properly accord accolades when due, and vilify the villains involved, if any. In a country where one still needs to find corrupt Officials to bribe to get any license to do Export-Import business, and certain commercial items are restricted to only a few chosen business entities, it begs the question to hold that people should not be suspicious of deals like that E.O. Group-Kosmos one.
