Chairman of the Ghana Black Stars B, Eddie Doku Komietey has made a revelation suggesting he was unaware of Burkina Faso’s track record in Kumasi until after Ghana’s elimination.

The Le Etalons stunned Ghana in Kumasi to qualify for next year’s African Nations Championship (CHAN) in Kenya after beating the ‘Black Stars B’ 2-1 in their final round, second-leg qualifier on Sunday.

The result combined with their 2-2 draw in the first leg of the qualifier to Ghana in Ouagadougou last weekend means the aggregate score ended 4-3 in the Stallions’ favour.

And Doku, who chairs the Black Stars B Management Committee, in an interview with Berekum-based Chris FM said his management only realised the Burkina’s had an impressive record in Kumasi only after the defeat.

“We’ve all been thinking about how it was possible for them to defeat us at home, because most of times when you play at home, you have the advantage”, Doku told Berekum-based Chris FM.

“It was only after the game that we learnt that anytime Burkinabes come to Ghana, especially in Kumasi, they see it as their second home”.

“We heard that even Kotoko, who are the landlords of Kumasi have never beaten Burkinabe clubs in Kumasi. All the Burkinabe clubs that have come to Kumasi always win, not even draw”,.

“You know Burkinabes are Moshie people and there are a number of Moshie people on Kumasi soil so we give thanks to God for whatever has happened”, He added.

The Black Stars who went to the game with a 2-2 draw game from the first leg in Ouagadougou last weekend have been booted out of the competition on a 3-4 aggregate, and for the second consecutive time would not make the roll call to the competition to be hosted in Kenya.
