Communications director of the Ghana Football Association has suggested that the local players stay longer in the Ghana Premier League to earn Black Stars call up.
According to the deputy general secretary of the FA, all local players who have been invited to the Black Stars in the past, have all left the country after spells with the national team hence depleting the domestic league.
"If we are to invite players for the Black Stars, it will be based on merit without any sentiment."
"All the local players that were invited from the Ghana Premier League, turn out to be foreign players after spells with the Black Stars which is a challenge." He said.
The likes of Samuel Tetteh, Kadiri Mohammed, Richard Ofori, Fatau Dauda have all turned into foreign players after call ups from the local league into the Black stars.
