Former Accra Hearts of Oak trainer Abubakur Damba says he’s ready to work with re-appointed Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah as Goalkeepers trainer if his services are needed.

According to him his experience and knowledge in the game makes him favorite for to assume the ”high” position.

His comment comes barely few hours after Majority leader in Parliament Hon. Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu recommended him to Kwesi Appiah to occupy the Black Stars Goalkeepers trainer position in an interview with Kessben TV.

However speaking on Abusua Sports Arena hosted by Kofi Larbi [governor] on Abusua 96.5 FM the veteran coach said.

”I have to be very grateful and appreciative to the Honorable majority leader of our August parliament house in Ghana for the confidence he has reposed in me but I think he didn’t say that just for saying sake, he might have monitored me for a distance in terms of my experience and qualification so if the is what he’s calling for us we are citizens of Ghana preparing ourselves for any task ahead so if it happens like that why not I am ready to embrace their call and work for my country”

He continued ”Let’s not also forget that in life things follow hand- hand in every aspect of life so if the time has come for me to [Abubakur Damba to work as the Black Stars Goalkeepers trainer so be it”

‘’Coaching is my profession and that is what I do and I think when it comes to experience I have the track-record proven and also I am quiet qualified to assume such responsibility so if it happens that I am called upon to come and work with Kwesi Appiah and take the Black Stars to another level I think I will humbly accept it will all your support and players.”

When asked what he intends to do to strengthen the Black Star Goalkeeping department when finally appointed as the next Goalkeepers trainer Damba replied.

”We need to understand that even if I am named as the next Goalkeepers trainer I will be work under Kwesi Appiah and I believe he has his philosophy, program expectation and targets so I am very sure we will have deliberation to it and spell out the directions he wants to go at the various department then discuss it and work together as a team”.

The former Ghana international was sacked as the goalkeepers’ trainer of the Black Meteors for his involvement in an alleged match fixing ten years ago.

The goalkeepers’ trainer, prior to Ghana’s international friendly against Iran in Tehran was axed from camp by the management board after some players of the team had reported his alleged cash proposal to them to play a game of convenience.

However that claim was realised to be untrue as the source of the money was traced to betting syndicates.
