Black Stars Captain, Asamoah Gyan , has hailed his teammates Christian Atsu and Thomas Partey for making the 30-man shortlist of the 2017 CAF footballer of the year award.
The highly rated Ghanaian midfielders were named on a 30-man strong shortlist, which includes the likes of Liverpool and Egypt’s Mohamed Salah, Senegal’s Sadio Mane and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang of Gabon and Borussia Dortmund.
Gyan, who eas nominated for the player of the year award on two occasions and finished runner in 2010 has commended Atsu and Partey for being recognized by the continents football governing body.
”I congratulate Christian Atsu and Thomas Partey because they have really worked hard,” he told Angel FM.
”They have been able to fit themselves into the Black Stars team and their various teams, Thomas Partey especially, has being in superb form this season for both club and country. He has managed to score five goals in his last four games played for Ghana.
“He is a very good footballer and he has added goal scoring to his game, he scored in the champions league this week and won the man of the match award during the AFCON and that shows he has consistency at his disposal, just as Atsu for Newcastle”.
