Ghana defender Lalas Abubakar was named in the Major League Soccer team of the week after an impressive opening day performance.
The 23-year-old paired with compatriot Jonathan Mensah in the heart of Columbus Crew's defence as they defeated Champions Toronto FC 2-0 in Canada.
Playing the entire match, Abubakar finished with four interceptions, six clearances, two tackles and 35 successful passes.
He is joined in the team of the week by teammates Milton Valenzuela and Federico Higuain. Others on the list are Sporting Kansa City's Medina and for Arsenal defender Philip Senderos who plays for Houston Dynamos.
Lalas Abubakar's compatriots Jonathan Mensah and Harrison Afful all played full throttle in Crew victory.
Meanwhile, on the substitutes list for the team of the Week is Ghanaian striker C.J Sarpong who scored and assisted in Philadelphia Union's 2-0 win over New England Revolution.
