Robert Quaye is unhappy with the Ghana Boxing Authority’s (GBA) decision to stripped him of his national super lightweight belt.
The Bukom native believed the association have not treated him well in their decision to take the belt away from him.
According to Quaye, after winning the belt in March, he was given two months to defend the title against the number one contender, Kpakpo Allotey and he believed in boxing that can’t happen.
“After winning the belt, the GBA told me to defend the belt in two months time against Kpapko Allotey something i believed is not good, because the two months is too short,” Quaye told Ghanacrusader.com.
“When i was crowned champion, i signed a contract with HeMann Promotions to defend my belt on their bill in August, but because the GBA wanted me to defend the belt, they wanted me to defend my belt on the Lions Promotions bill which was last month. I declined because i have already signed to fight on HeMann Promotions’ bill, so because of that they stripped the belt from me.”
However, last month, Kpakpo Allotey then seized the opportunity to win the vacant belt after stopping Tackie Annan in round five.
But Quaye has expressed his desire to reclaim his belt, tasking GBA to give Allotey a deadline for his title defense.
“The GBA gave me two months but because i failed to comply they took the belt from me, now Kpakpo Allotey has won the belt, so what are they telling him?, the GBA must come out to give him a particular deadline for him to defend the belt.
“For me i’m ready to fight Allotey because that title is mine.”
