Energy Minister, Boakye Agyarko says the Ghana's legal and technical team representing the nation at the International Tribunal of the Law of the Sea (ITLOS) is hopeful of securing a favourable decision in the maritime boundary dispute between the nation and its neighbours, Ivory Coast. He said the final ruling which will be given in September will give investors the "certainty they need to make long term decision in this country".

Whilst the nation awaits the judgment, the minister called on stakeholders to come together to resolve the various challenges the petroleum sector is currently facing. Key amongst these challenges is the capacity challenge being faced by indigenous Ghanaian companies and professionals.

He said "I know that the petroleum commission is not oblivious of these challenges and is working tirelessly with all stakeholders to overcome these challenges".

The Energy Minister was addressing a stakeholder forum in Accra on Tuesday on “Ghana’s upstream petroleum industry; a decade after the commercial discovery of oil and gas” which was organised under the auspices of the Petroleum Commission, Ghana and the Ministry of Energy to mark the 10 years anniversary of oil discovery.
