GhIPSS holds 10th anniversary press briefing

Ghana Interbank Payment and Settlement Systems (GhIPSS) Limited has organised a press launch ahead of its 10th Anniversary Celebration.

The company used the launch to highlight it achievements over the 10 year period and also to provide the media with planned activities for the week long festivity.

Speaking at the Press launch, Mr. Archie Hesse, the Chief Executive Officer of GhIPSS said the Company has in the last 10 years contributed to the growth of Ghana's financial sector with the development of electronic payment platforms. He said " GhIPSS has introduced a number of platforms that are currently being used to facilitate convenience in banking and financial inclusion in the country. Our first product was e-zwich, then we automated the cheque clearing system; reducing the cheque clearing cycle from 3 to 10 days to Same-day or Next Day".

He added GhIPSS has also introduced the Direct Credit and Direct Debit system that is helping companies sort out bulk and repetitive payments.

Outline for the Week Celebration

The Celebration which is under the theme: "10 Years of Promoting Electronic Payments in Ghana" , will begin with a Public Lecture on the Evolution of Payment Systems in Ghana. This event will be chaired by Dr. Paul Acquah, a Former Governor of the Bank of Ghana. This will be followed by the commemoration of the anniversary, where the Vice President will deliver a keynote address on theme for the celebration. GhIPSS will also be making a donation to the Accra Psychiatric Hospital as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility. The week's activities will end with a thanksgiving service at the Accra Ridge Church on Sunday, the 4th of June.

The CEO, extended the Company's appreciation to all stakeholders who have contributed to the success of GhIPSS in the last 10 years. He was optimistic of the company's future for the years ahead.
