FOCAP salutes Ghana Actors Guild for support to aged actors

Newly launched pressure group, Federation Of Concerned Arts Professionals (FOCAP), has congratulated the current executive of the Ghana Actors Guild for attending to veteran actors across the country.

Kojo Preko Dankwa, a convenor of the group commended the Samuel Fiscian led-administration of the Ghana Actors Guild for reaching out to some veteran actors across the country who have been off the screens for sometime now as a result of sickness or ageing.

According to him, the current executive have begun fulfilling their responsibilities for which they were voted to office to seek to improve the livelihoods of actors in the country.

The leadership of Ghana Actors Guild recently paid a visit to aged actors and actresses at their residences in the Greater Accra, Ashanti, Central and Volta Regions of Ghana.

The delegation comprising Actors Guild President Samuel Fiscian, Welfare Officer Kalsoume Sinare, Secretary Ziggy Netteyson, Mikki Osei Berko among others, presented mobile phones from Vodafone and undisclosed amounts of money to the long-serving film makers.

The veterans actors and actresses include; Grace Nortey, Mac Jordan Amartey, Kwadwo Dadson, Samuel Mensah, Bernice Monyetor Ackumey, Guy Boakye (Wofa Guy), Emery Brown, William Kwakutsi Abeve, King Brenya, Super OD, Mr Kwaku Twumasi, Dora Kwarteng and Mary Afriyie Forson.

Kojo Preko Dankwa advised that other arts and entertainment groups, organizations and associations should emulate same approach for the creative arts industry to be on a firm ground.

Speaking to the press, Mel Kwesi Davis, also a convenor of the group, said the Actors Guild should focus on its core mandate to address the constitutional issues and other concerns to help improve it.

He recommended that the executive actively push for the Development and Classification of Film Act, 2016 and be very active in lobbying for the betterment of the industry.

Federation Of Concerned Arts Professionals (FOCAP), is a pressure group that plays a watch dog role of providing information about efforts by various Entertainment sectors to influence public policy has been launched in Accra.
