How Owusu Bempah predicted the death of Jewel Ackah and Super OD

Reverend Isaac Owusu Bempah, the founder of the Glorious Word Ministry, predicted in 2016 that Jewel Ackah and Super OD, two veterans of Ghanaian entertainment, would die that year, YEN.com.gh can report.

The pastor made the prediction to his church members on January 1, 2016 as part of his prophecies for the year.

“When you say it then people would come on and insult you, but I must still tell that I saw calamity befalling this country as we entered 2016…in the entertainment industry, for instance, Super OD and Jewel Ackah would die,” he said.

The two veteran entertainers were ill at the time Owusu Bempah made the prediction. Super OD, for instance, had been falsely reported dead a couple of times. Jewel Ackah had been sick for over eight years.

But Owusu-Bempah denied knowing, in an interview with Accra-based Adom FM that Super OD was sick. "I never knew that", he was quoted as saying.

However, his prophecy failed to materialise, as both men stayed alive until 2018, when they passed on.

Super OD died on February 13, 2018 at the age 84, while Jewel Ackah died on April 27, 2018 at the age of 72.

Both men had been battling illnesses for years.



YEN.com.gh reported last year that Jewel Ackah was suffering from stroke and other illnesses. "I have been battling with stroke, leg pain and I mean so many things.

I just give thanks to the almighty God for even bringing me this far. At first, I couldn’t walk nor speak.

For now, I am able to walk a little but not all that good as compared to the first,” he said at the time. Jewel Ackah was known for hit songs like "Abena Ewo Hen", "Araba", "and Abena Ma Ware Wo".

He also composed the anthem of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Last year, he condemned members of the NDC for allegedly abandoning him during his illness, despite his immense contribution to the party.

His criticism of the party prompted some Ghanaians to run to his aid with cash and other material donations.

Nana Appiah Mensah, the owner of the Zylofon Media, was one of those who supported Jewel Ackah, donating $10,000 towards his medical rehabilitation.

Former president John Mahama also visited him to wish him well and support him financially.

It appears, however, that despite the donations to Jewel Ackah to aid his recovery, the musician's condition deteriorated, leading to his death.

This is not the first time Owusu-Bempah's prophecies have missed the marked. In the last two years, he has predicted that a former Ghanaian first lady would die, but that prophecy has also failed to materialise.
