The award-winning movie, Pauline’s Diary, which stars renowned characters such as Roselyn Ngissah, Elikem Kumordzie and Rhoda Ampene, has been making a lot of waves recently.
The domestic-violence themed film was shot in Ghana and written and produced by UK-based Ben Darkwa.
Pauline’s Diary has bagged several awards at various film festivals already (including the all famous IndieFest Awards) though it is set to be premiered in London and Accra this February. The movie, with its book version, has caught attention around the globe and perceived as one of the biggest movies to be unveiled this year.
Pauline’s Diary is the brainchild of Ben Darkwa, a UK-based civil engineer, film producer and author. Asked why he wrote this movie, he said, “Having been the chairman of the Cambridge African Network, UK, from 2011-2015, I was aware of the major issues affecting Africa and its people. Domestic abuse was one of such issues.”
Pauline’s Diary is a dramatic piece full of suspense. The entrepreneur has invested a lot of time and money into this product of his. The height of it all came when a London high street studio gave him a £45K invoice for post production work.
He revealed, “The bill left me with no option than to learn a new trade in editing. I had to cut and recut raw footages to meet my own acceptance criteria. That was how I massively saved!”
Indeed, in the face of challenges, new talents are discovered.
Pauline’s Diary premieres in Accra on Friday, 23rd February, 2018 at Silverbird Cinema, Accra Mall and Saturday, 24th February, 2018 at Silverbird Cinema, West Hills Mall. Time is 7pm and 9pm each day. Red carpet starts at 6pm.
