All too soon the year 2017 has almost come to an end and there could not have been a better way to finish the year than with the MTN’s annual Nine Lesson and Carols held on December 15, 2017.
The seventh of its kind at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC) had patrons treated to thrilling performances from Joe Mettle, KiDi, MzVee, Kurl Songz, Daughters of Glorious Jesus, Kuami Eugene, Accra Symphony Orchestra and Kaayire Kwame Appiah in celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ.
MTN has for the past 6 years served customers and the public leaving them of having a memorable Christmas and this year was no different.
Joe Mettle began the night with a series of worship and praise songs and capping it with Christmas carols.
The VGMA Artiste of Year could not have stepped down the stage without performing hits ‘Owanwani’ and ‘Bonooni’ on the well-lit and decorated stage.
The official city’s orchestra and cultural ambassador as announced by the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) earlier today, Accra Symphony Orchestra, kept the tempo when it was their turn to sing classical renditions of Christmas carols.
Dancehall Queen, Mz Vee, looked nothing short of angelic and also left a good impression when she took over the stage.
The crowd saw a different side of ‘Jennifer Lomotey’ crooner, Kurl Songz, who was unusually ‘calm’ on stage while captivating the audience with a smooth performance from start to finish.
The duo MCs for the night were comedian Foster Romanus and Television presenter Berla Mundi. They lived up to task and by lighten up the moment with jokes and their own renditions of Christmas Carols.
On the other hand, MTN Hitmakers’ ‘babies’, Kidi, Kuami Eugene, Freda Rhymz and Koo Ntakra proved that they were a force to reckon with as they left no stone unturned with their individual stage crafts.
Kaakyire Kwame Appiah brought back the 90s groove on stage as he shook the house and practically got everyone to their feet with back to back performances before Daughters of Glorious Jesus crowned the night with melodies of their well-known gospel hits.
Over the years, the MTN carols service has become anticipated event members of the public for the fantastic organisation and the staging of many seasoned artistes.
This year’s star-studded event was no different for patrons who look forward to a stirring edition next year.
