Oheneyere Gifty Anti touches the life of a stranded pregnant woman and her son

Experienced TV personality, Oheneyere Gifty Anti, known by the stool name, Awo Dansoa, has warmed many hearts on social media after she extended a helping hand to a pregnant woman who had been stranded in Accra for weeks.

The TV show host took to her Instagram account and shared pictures and the story of a woman named Naomi Akasi Ackah who hailed from Anyase, Nzema.

According to the post, the woman, a 23-year-old JHS 2 school leaver who was heavily pregnant had been brought to Accra by the father of her son and unborn baby to live in Accra only to abandon her upon reaching the capital city.

As a result, she had no option than to seek shelter on the Achimota Bridge in Accra with no one to help her.

Gifty Anti recounted that she called the police and a few media people to assist the lady and went on her way.

Howver, upon seeing her the second time, Gifty Anti, with the help of some policemen in the area approached the woman to ascertain if she was mentally stable.

Naomi Akasi Ackah then recounted her story to them which touched the heart of the TV icon who pulled strings to help the young lady.

They managed to raise some funds for her, get her a small phone and some provisions and got in touch with her Member of Parliament who has made steps to see to Naomi Akasi Ackah’s safe return to her family members in Nzema.

LIFE You think you have a tough life? Think again. On Monday I saw this woman on the Achimota bridge with a little boy sitting by her side naked. It was a hot afternoon. I called the police and some media houses to go take a look and get her some help. But I was emotionally disturbed. Tuesday and yesterday I passed by there (the bridge) but I didn’t see them. So I thought she was sorted. Today I saw them again and so I stopped and asked the police to help me go talk to her. No....she is not mentally disturbed. She is pregnant and the father of her son and unborn baby brought her to Accra from Nzema Anyinase a month ago and abandoned her. She is 8months pregnant. For me he past one month, she’s been sleeping under the Achimota bridge on the N1. I have brought her to my office with the help of the police. I am getting her and her son to bath eat, get them some clothes and money to go back to Nzema where she says her mother and siblings are. My daughter, Dr. Emefa is on her way to come examine her before she leaves. I will keep me updated. Please in your comments don’t tell me how well you think I have done. All is well that ends well. Her name is Naomi Akasi Ackah and hails from Anyase, Nzema. I saw her on the N1 part of the Achimota bridge on Monday. Called the police and two media houses to help her. I saw her again today and I just couldn’t let it go. So I stopped mainly because of the little boy by her. I asked the police to accompany me to talk to her because I thought she was mentally disturbed. But when I got close to her I realized she was very ok. Normal. She is a JSS 2 graduate, 23 years old and pregnant. The father of her son and unborn baby brought her to Accra to live with his mother. But they got to Accra and he abandoned her. She only knows her husband’s name Atsuvi (no she doesn’t know her surname) So I brought her to my office with the help of the police, got her to shower and bath her baby and eat. Thanks to Joycelyn Odoom, Bishop Sarpong, Mrs Christiana Ofori-Poku, Francisca Yeboah Boateng, Oyekechire Ansah Kwaw, Martha Yalley and Dr Joyce Emefa Addo ( who came to examine her) and her husband Dr. William Klah and some unanimous donors, we have sent her back to her home town where her mother and other siblings live. She is a hair dresser by profession. Of course the Staff of GDA, Adzo Atitsogbui, Rachel Bulley, Daniel Atule, Mohammed Mumin, Kelvin Essiamah, Jeremiah Abbey and my son Derick Baah, the artist were of great service and help We were able to raise ghc1,500 for her, some clothes for her and her son, provisions and a little phone to enable us get in touch with her. Thankfully, her MP, Emmanuel Kofi Buah saw my earlier post and sent his assistants to also give her some money and drop her at the Elubo lorry station. Please let’s look out for the less privileged in our society. Why I decided to stop this morning and insisted on talking to her, though my baby was sleeping in the car... only God knows.

I know some of you still want to donate to Naomi Akasi Ackah. But fortunately, we have handed her over to her MP and his people. So as far as we are concerned, she is on her way back to Anyase, Nzema. Thank you very much, but please hold on to your donations for now, until we find another person to help. It’s the morning after and time for reflections. Afia Appiah asked me ‘does she want to go back’?.. Yes that’s what she told us. She said her family and siblings are there. Rosemary Dankyi asked ‘will she be safe’? Again, she said yes with her family there and the MP taking interest she will hopefully be safe. In any case I have no shelter for her. Another person asked ‘are you sure she won’t come back to the street’? My answer is I don’t know. All I know is that I saw a pregnant woman and her son on the street and I used my voice and platforms to help her. We have done our bit. The rest is in God’s hands. On that note, it’s a new day. Go look for someone to help. Smile you are beautiful inside out.
