Letter From The President: Did we go or did we come?

Fri, 10 Mar 2006 Source: J. A. Fukuor/Daily Dispatch

Countrymen and women, loyalists and opponents, I suppose some of you are still in the Independence mood ? celebrating our shameful nationhood. It?s all well and good. But it?s also senseless and unjustifiable. That?s why I have suggested in the past, and am going to repeat, that I think we should replace the independence celebrations with wailing and mourning and the gnashing of teeth.

What do we have to celebrate? Absolutely nothing! Unless, of course, you think that national retrogression is worth celebrating. I was not so enthused about the 49th independence anniversary celebrations and I am not looking forward to the grandiose 50th anniversary celebrations either.
