The Member of Parliament (MP) for Asawase Constituency in the Ashanti Region of Ghana, Alhaji Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka, has stated that the Member of Parliament for Madina Constituency of the Greater Accra Region, Francis-Xavier Kojo Sosu, is one of the best first-time MPs in Ghana’s Parliamentary history.

According to Muntaka, who doubles as the former Minority Chief Whip in Parliament, pockets of information available clearly show that Sosu, in his first term in parliament, has demonstrated excellent performance in the discharge of his parliamentary duties and lobbying for the timely provision of certain essential amenities in his constituency.

He indicated that Sosu has demonstrated that he truly represents the interests of the people of Madina and is not in parliament to amass wealth for himself. The developments, to a large extent, drive the development agenda that the constituents are expecting from him.

The Asawase MP described Sosu as a development-oriented MP.

He added that Lawyer Sosu, who has over the years been a pro-bono lawyer for the less privileged and downtrodden in our society, should be applauded for the many wonderful initiatives and humanitarian services that he has rendered and is still rendering to humanity.

He indicated that just a little over three years as a Member of Parliament for the people of Madina Constituency, he has already set up an Award Scheme to motivate and encourage teachers to improve teaching and learning.

"On January 7, 2022, hard-working teachers in the Madina Constituency were awarded various prizes, including a car prize for their dedication towards their teaching job. The MP and lawyer should be praised because he is a good material for the developmental agenda of the Madina Constituency and even the whole country at large," he noted.

He stressed that these are the kinds of leaders the country needs. Visionaries who think about the ordinary people on the streets and serve them selflessly with a genuine heart like your MP is doing. It is not how long one stays in power or holds a position that matters, but the positive things one is able to do with it within their time of service.

"It is obvious that the people of Madina will keep voting Honourable Sosu and people like him to lead them in the Constituencies. Even the government in recent times hasn't shown this kind of motivation to us. I personally think that Sosu has a great future in politics and should be encouraged and supported to keep up his good works for the country and God," Muntaka urged voters.

Describing Sosu as a great political material, Muntaka stressed the need for the eligible voters, particularly supporters and members of the NDC in Madina, to consider all these personal credentials of Sosu to vote massively for him to retain the parliamentary seat for the party in the 2024 general election.

Muntaka further described Sosu as a hardworking MP and touted his achievements as unprecedented, stressing that even though Sosu's chances of winning the next election are not in doubt, the rank and file of the party in the area must work extra hard to achieve that target.

"Now in the Madina Constituency, we have Honourable Sosu who is an opposition MP, who has established himself well and gathered experience in his first term as a representative of the people of Madina in the parliament house of Ghana," he stated.

In his first term as a backbencher, Muntaka pointed out that Sosu has exhibited competence, which gives us comfort in him as our MP. He has friends in both the minority and majority in parliament.

According to him, the incumbent MP has a good working relationship with his people, chiefs, and the masses.

"Now, to the reason he has to be given another mandate, every indication points to the fact that the NDC is forming the next government of Ghana.

For this reason, he stressed that Sosu must be given another term that is likely to earn him a ministerial appointment for the benefit of Madina, which will also help him develop the constituency as he desires.

"For the sake of development in Madina, I entreat the supporters and members of the NDC in the area to continue to rally behind Honourable Sosu to help win the seat for the NDC again.

"The unprecedented achievements of Honourable Sosu would help him to retain the parliamentary seat for the NDC in the 2024 elections," he reiterated and applauded him for making sure the people of the constituency received their share of the national cake through aggressive lobbying.

"I would like to repeat that it would not be surprising that the good people of Madina vote for H.E John Dramani Mahama and Honourable Sosu massively based on their historic development track records within the constituency.

"This is also because the next NDC government under the former President John Dramani Mahama would empower Honourable Sosu to continue to lobby for the provision of social amenities in the area like roads, market centres, health facilities, education infrastructure, and many more for the people in Madina," he assured.

Muntaka made these remarks when he was speaking at an official launch of the campaign for Lawyer Sosu to contest the parliamentary seat on the ticket of the NDC in the 2024 showdown.

The party commissioned the new ultra-modern National Democratic Congress office in Madina for the effective and efficient running of administrative affairs of the part in the area.

Addressing the charged crowds, Muntaka lambasted President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and NPP for taking Ghana backward.

According to him, it was clear that all the campaign promises made by Akufo-Addo and NPP were unfulfilled and jabbed Mr Akufo-Addo, Bawumia, and the NPP for mismanagement of the country's economy which has brought severe hardship to ordinary Ghanaians in the country who voted for change.

Currently, the NDC legislator stated that Ghanaians are crying for former President John Dramani Mahama to win political power in the 2024 polls, with the indication that Mr Mahama is the best alternative for Ghanaians, saying that President Akufo-Addo and his NPP government have failed to deliver.
