First National Bank has announced it will be hosting Ghana’s biggest immersive art exhibition in partnership with the EMY Africa and the Ghana Artist Alliance.

It will form part of a premium all-weekend event where the EMY Africa EXPO will showcase businesses, products and services in the art and entertainment industry.

The Head of Marketing and Corporate Affairs at First National Bank, Delali Dzidzienyo explained that the bank is hosting the art exhibition to demonstrate its belief in Africa’s vibrant and abundant artistic talent.

“Through this EXPO, our clients and every invited Ghanaian or African who is passionate about engaging with the rich and diverse artistic expressions of Africa can enjoy a curated celebration of the continent’s art,” Mr. Dzidzienyo says.

The exclusive event has been carefully arranged to offer a pan-African showcase of artistic talent, within the EXPO that is bringing together international exhibitors from all sectors of the art and entertainment industry, aiming to place African contemporary art on a global stage. Guests will be invited to discover and explore all corners of the indoor-outdoor venue, as they wander through marble halls, sculpture pavilions while enjoying a diverse programme of exhibitions, art, music, shopping and more.

“In this first ever EMY Africa EXPO, First National Bank is partnering key stakeholders to challenge the standard 'white cube' gallery model, reimagining the relationship between art and the viewer," Mr. Dzidzienyo says.

"By creating spaces with an interplay between the indoor and outdoor, the design of the art expo dissolves the typical art-viewing environment, creating a space for art to be engaged with and questioned in a uniquely African context. We also make it our business to allow all industry players an equal playing field, with galleries, alternative spaces and artists presenting side by side."

The Executive Director of Carbon AV, organisers of the EMY Africa EXPO, Kojo Soboh added that they are focused on creating an inviting environment, where both seasoned collectors and art world novices feel comfortable to engage, learn, connect, and ultimately acquire art.

The EMY Africa EXPO is scheduled for June 14-16, 2024, at the Accra International Conference Center.
