Lawrence Ahiadu was once an amputee who struggled to complete daily tasks without assistance. Simple activities like fetching water or walking long distances were challenging due to his disability. Moreover, he couldn't work because of his condition.

During a Good Friday Service, he met Bishop Dag Heward-Mills, who pledged to help him with a prosthesis. Later, a doctor from the Hope Center contacted him for an interview. In a short time, Lawrence Ahiadu received a custom-made prosthesis, significantly enhancing his quality of life. Now, he can independently perform basic tasks and holds a job. Grateful for the free prosthesis, Lawrence Ahiadu thanked Bishop Dag for his assistance.

What a change in story! This is the life of many other amputees whose quality of life has been changed by the Hope Center. Many people are unaware of the daily struggles faced by amputees. But led by the spirit of God, Dag Heward-Mills established the Hope Center to aid the helpless. This facility is dedicated to providing prostheses for amputees, offering them a chance to regain mobility and enhance their quality of life.

History of the Hope Center

Construction of the Hope Center in Amrahia commenced in December 2018 and was officially opened in April 2023. Initially intended solely to serve as a facility for amputees, the center has since expanded its services to accommodate couples seeking fertility treatment and individuals in need of general medical assistance. Since its inauguration in 2023, the Hope Center has provided custom-made prosthetic legs to numerous amputees, facilitating their mobility, improving their quality of life, fostering independence, and boosting self-esteem.

How one can gain access to the Dag Heward-Mills’ Hope Center

Anyone in the Amrahia area or nearby regions in need of a prosthetic leg can simply visit the Hope Center. An initial evaluation is conducted to obtain measurements for the prosthesis, a process typically lasting 4-8 weeks. Following the provision of the prosthesis, training sessions are available to help individuals acclimate to their new prosthesis. For beggars or underprivileged individuals, the prosthesis is provided free of charge. The Hope Center is situated in Amrahia, in the Adenta Dodowa enclave.
