Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has called for women's inclusion in politics and other areas.

The Overlord of the Asante Kingdom has observed that it is important to include women in the development of the country, as the few women who have been given the chance have demonstrated patriotism in their line of work.

The Asantehene said the call was necessary to enable women to contribute their quota to nation-building.

He said this during a durbar to honour women at the Manhyia Palace in the Ashanti Region on Monday, April 22, 2024.

The event, which formed part of the 25th-anniversary celebration of the Asantehene, saw all queen mothers in the Asante Kingdom converge at the Manhyia palace to prepare local foods.

Ranging from the renowned fufu to lesser-known and ancient delicacies like “Akau” and “Mampong at3ky3," the queen mothers and their community members displayed local foods from the various traditional areas.

While commending the queen mothers and women in general for their enormous contribution to the development of Ghana, Otumfuo emphasised gender equality and the need to empower women in Ghanaian politics.
