President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has wished Muslims across the country well, as they begin the 30-day Ramadan prayer and fasting.

Mr Akufo-Addo, in a tweet, prayed that the period of fasting will strengthen the peace and unity that exist among Ghanaians.

“Ramadan Kareem to all Muslims in Ghana. May this period of fasting and praying strengthen the peace and unity that exist amongst us,” the tweet read.

Some Ghanaian Muslims began the fast on Wednesday, 16 May 2018 while others began on Thursday, 17 May 2018.

Ramadan is the ninth month in the Islamic (Hijri) calendar. It is the most holy month in the calendar for Muslims as it is believed the Quran was revealed to Prophet Mohammed during Ramadan.
