‘I wanted to commit suicide on Nima Overhead’ – Apostle Oduro on losing court case, temple

Apostle Dr Solomon Oduro has revealed that he once contemplated taking his own life after losing his temple, and a subsequent court case left him devastated.

Speaking in a video shared by Ghana Eye on August 30, 2026, the preacher, whose marriage to popular marriage counsellor Charlotte Oduro had ended, recounted how he found himself standing at the Nima Overhead, overwhelmed by his experiences and questioning God and his circumstances.

“I wanted to kill myself. That’s when I was standing on Nima Overhead, trying to blame God and people,” he said.

According to Apostle Oduro, the situation became particularly difficult because he felt he had endured numerous challenges despite not deliberately bringing those problems upon himself.

“By then I knew that I was not traumatising myself with so many things, so why should I go through all those things and want to kill myself,” he stated.

He shared that while standing on the overhead and contemplating suicide, he experienced what he described as God speaking directly to him.

“On top of the overhead, God whispered into my ears that he would double my anointing. That’s why I named my first book ‘Double Man Anointing’,” he revealed.

Apostle Oduro disclosed that at the time, he also heard what he described as an audible voice urging him to end his life.

“I was hearing a very audible voice, ‘Kill yourself because you’re tired. It’s like you’re cursed and you don’t have any helper,” he recounted.

He disclosed that he had reached a point where he was prepared to jump from the overhead or put himself in the path of a vehicle.

“I was ready to just throw myself down or fall on a car to just smash me when I heard God’s voice,” he noted.

The preacher said the experience ultimately influenced his understanding of the importance of spiritual strength during difficult periods.

“I believe that people at a very crucial time need double oil, double power and strength to push hard,” he stated.

He added that the concept of “double oil” has since become an important part of his ministry and personal testimony.

“Double oil has really elevated me, and I’m an example of double oil and anointing,” he added.
