‘I love everything about Shatta Wale’ – Irene Opare

Ghanaian veteran actress Irene Opare has revealed her admiration for dancehall musician Shatta Wale, describing his charisma as a quality shared by few public figures. Speaking in an interview captured by Seancity TV on September 1, 2026, Irene Opare subsequently named Shatta Wale as her favourite male artiste, explaining that she admires several aspects of his personality and career. “My favourite male artiste is Shatta Wale. I like everything about Shatta Wale and he is a real guy,” she said. According to her, anyone who visits her home on a regular day is likely to find her listening to music and dancing. She also mentioned that although she is passionate about acting, music remains an important part of her everyday life. “I love doing movies, but I love music. Movies are my passion, but music is my thing. On a regular day, if you find me at home, you will see me playing music and dancing,” she stated. Irene Opare particularly highlighted the musician's charisma, describing it as a rare quality that extends beyond the entertainment industry. “He has something that most musicians and personalities don’t have, even politicians, which is charisma,” she shared. ‘They owe me about GH₵5m’ – Shatta Wale fumes over Black Stars promotion Drawing a comparison between Shatta Wale and Ghana's late former President Jerry John Rawlings, Irene said both personalities possess a level of charisma that attracts people regardless of their opinions about them. “Shatta is like the late JJ Rawlings for me and they have charisma,” she explained. She illustrated her point by saying that even people who strongly dislike Shatta Wale would still be eager to meet him if they encountered him in public. “If you hate Shatta, whether maybe he has insulted your mother or father and you hear that he is coming down the road, you will run to go and see him. You will go and shake his hand and that’s the charisma I’m talking about. Take it or leave it,” she noted. Irene Opare also disclosed that while she enjoys all of Shatta Wale's songs, ‘On God’ is her personal favourite. For her, the song carries a spiritual quality that makes it feel almost like a conversation with God. “I love all his songs, but ‘On God’ is my favourite. That song feels like a spirit when you’re singing it. It’s gospel music and it’s like you’re talking to God,” she added.
