NPP directs re-run of outstanding internal elections in Ashanti Region
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has directed its Ashanti Regional Steering Committee to take immediate steps to organise re-runs of outstanding internal elections in three constituencies in the Ashanti Region.
The directive, contained in a letter dated August 31, 2026, and signed by the Acting National Chairman, Danquah/Butte Smith, concerns the Afigya Sekyere East, Adansi Asokwa and Atwima Mponua constituencies.
According to the party, "the decision follows challenges that previously affected the smooth conduct of the internal elections in the affected constituencies."
The National Party has therefore resolved that the outstanding elections be re-run in accordance with the NPP Constitution, its election regulations and all applicable guidelines.
In the Afigya Sekyere East and Adansi Asokwa constituencies, the Ashanti Regional Steering Committee has been instructed to facilitate the re-run of the Polling Station, Electoral Area and Constituency Executive Elections.
The party has also directed the Regional Steering Committee to organise and supervise the re-run of the Polling Station and Electoral Area elections at Mpasatia and Bedabour in the Atwima Mponua Constituency.

The directive states that once those elections are successfully completed, the party should proceed with the Constituency Executive Elections in Atwima Mponua.
The NPP has set Monday, September 21, 2026, as the deadline for completing all the outstanding electoral processes.
Rita Asobayire and Cornelius Owusu Asare have been tasked with coordinating and facilitating the implementation of the directives.
The Acting National Chairman has urged the Regional Steering Committee to treat the matter with the highest priority and ensure strict compliance with the stipulated timeframe.
