Ridge Hospital Death: Husband of 31-year-old mother vows to fight for answers and accountability

The husband of Theresa Boakye Dua Asante, a 31-year-old woman who died during childbirth at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital, popularly known as Ridge Hospital, has vowed to seek full accountability for his wife’s death. Following her burial, Daniel Ofori Asante, popularly known as KODA, shared his determination in a Facebook post sighted by GhanaWeb on September 2, 2026. He explained that his resolve was strengthened by the many Ghanaians who recounted their own experiences with maternal mortality. He also expressed deep gratitude to citizens and well-wishers for the solidarity shown to his family after the tragedy. According to him, the widespread support has transformed his grief into a firm resolve to prevent similar incidents in the future while emphasising that no family, husband, or newborn should endure the pain he and his son now carry. “Bringing life into this world must never cost a woman hers, whether at Ridge Hospital or any other health facility in Ghana,” he wrote. “I owe this sacred duty to the memory of Theresa, and I owe it to every pregnant woman in this country. I will not fail you,” he added.
